MAN ON A LEDGE KEEPS YOU ON THE EDGE!

The terrific new thriller Man On A Ledge stars Sam Worthington as Nick Cassidy, a wrongly accused ex-cop trying to clear his name.  He does so in such a public way with the help of negotiator/cop Lydia Mercer, played by Elizabeth Banks.

It's a treat to see the ever-so-charming Edward Burns in front of the camera!  Here he plays Jack Dougherty, a cop that's first on the scene and tries to help the situation along.  You may remember Jamie Bell as Billy Elliot back in 2000.  Well, he's all grown up and holds his own as Nick's brother, Joey.  There's a surprise play by Genesis Rodriguez as Joey's very sassy girlfriend Angie  What a plum role for her.  I must also give a shout out to Anythony Mackie as Nick's partner, Mike.  Check him out in Real Steel (which just came out on DVD this past Tuesday).

The bad guy in this film is an always terrific Ed Harris as David Englander.  I couldn't help but notice he sure looks very skinny, wrinkly and small.  As my friend said, "Doesn't he look like the cryptkeeper"?!  I believe it's all part of the role, method acting.  Kyra Sedgwick plays an opportunistic reporter Suzie Morales. The way she says her name gets a laugh... every time!

This movie kept me on the edge of my seat.  Great acting and writing.  Kudos to director Asger Leth on a job well done!  I hope he gets more work from this.  My feeling is he will.  See this movie on the big screen while you can.  That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSANNA HOFFS! (THE BANGLES)

It has been way too long for a new Bangles CD. But is has been SO worth the wait! Sweetheart of the Sun is a cornucopia, infused with 60’s-influenced psychedelic pop and jangly guitar gems.
For this release, Hoffs and the Petersen sisters are joined by bassist Derrick Anderson. Sweetheart of the Sun is a true collaboration amongst the ladies, their producer and friend Matthew Sweet, and a list of co-lyricists… including pal Brian Macleod (Under a Cloud).

Three of the tracks Sweetheart of the Sun, Mesmerized and One of Two were created by all three remaining members.  The track Open My Eyes (Todd Rundgren) is a song The Bangles performed in the early 80’s.  My suggestion is to take a ride anywhere and let the entire CD play out.  And if you’re not back yet, press the repeat button!

BEST AND WORST DRESSED AT THE 2012 GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS

There were many pretty women in glamorous gowns.  Take a look for yourself at http://www.goldenglobes.org/blog/photos/

My 10 Best Dressed Women:

Jessica Alba in Gucci (Beautiful color, nice tan and great smile!)
Stacy Keibler in Valentino (a signature red dress from the maestro)
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior (blush is the new black and showing some leg!)
Ariel Winter in D&G (Great bold color with a girly flair)
Elle MacPherson in Zac Posen (Looks AMAZING, ageless Elle!)
Octavia Spencer – Tadashi Shoji (Soft pastel NOT blush, perfect)
Katharine McPhee in Donna Karan (fun, flattering dress for her)
Claire Danes in J. Mendel (Edgy, interesting dress in B&W)
Debra Messing in Marchesa (Classic black but great asymmetry)
Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci (Also edgy in classic black that works)

Least Favorite Female:

OMG SMG (Sarah Michelle Gellar).  Never listen to what a 2-year old suggests to wear for an awards show.  Looks like she grabbed her comforter and wrapped herself in it!  Second goes to Salma Hayek.  We don't need glittery metal to point us to your very own golden globes!  Lastly, Zooey Daschanel is such a pretty young lady who usually looks to fresh and girly in a toile, taffeta gown.  But tonight, it's some odd looking green/black ensemble.  Green was the choice color of the night but Angelina Jolie rocked it LAST YEAR.  Speaking of Jolie, I liked the pop of red at the top of her dress.  But the rest reminds me of a wedding dress color.  Maybe another choice of white silk would work better.

Top 5 Best Dressed Men:

Leonardo DiCaprio (He is a classy and classic movie star!)
George Clooney (Always great and dashing but Stacy shines.)
Brad Pitt (Even with the cane, he wears the suit well!)
Jimmy Fallon (Who's adorable and crazy, sexy funny.)
Mark Wahlberg (Looks confident and relaxed tonight)

Honorable mention: Uggie, The Artist (I'm a sucker for a cute dog.  Great bowtie!)

Sexiest Female: Stacy Keibler
Sexiest Male: Guy Pearce

Stand out: Ty Burrell (Bold choice of going with a white suit.  It works for him.)
