It has been way too long for a new Bangles CD. But is has been SO worth the wait! Sweetheart of the Sun is a cornucopia, infused with 60’s-influenced psychedelic pop and jangly guitar gems.
For this release, Hoffs and the Petersen sisters are joined by bassist Derrick Anderson. Sweetheart of the Sun is a true collaboration amongst the ladies, their producer and friend Matthew Sweet, and a list of co-lyricists… including pal Brian Macleod (Under a Cloud).
Three of the tracks Sweetheart of the Sun, Mesmerized and One of Two were created by all three remaining members. The track Open My Eyes (Todd Rundgren) is a song The Bangles performed in the early 80’s. My suggestion is to take a ride anywhere and let the entire CD play out.
